Tracking “Conversions” on the Jane App

If you use the Jane App to book sessions, tracking key conversion events (that is, booking appointments!) and sending feedback to Google Analytics is critical.  If you don’t track conversions, you (and our team) won’t know what digital marketing avenues deliver results for your practice.

You can't manage what you don't count

Three Simple Steps

Step 1: Provide Your GA4 Measurement ID to the Jane App

  1. Copy your GA4 Measurement ID (Format: G-XXXXXXXXXX). Your client success manager at TherapyEverywhere can help you if you are a TherapyEverywhere client.
  2. In Jane, go to Settings > Integrations > Google Analytics.
  3. Click Edit and paste your Measurement ID.

Step 2: Set Up Cross-Domain Tracking

  1. In Google Analytics, go to Admin > Data Streams > [Your Stream].
  2. Click Configure tag settings > Configure your domains.
  3. Add both your website domain (e.g., yourclinic.com) and Jane’s domain (jane.app).

Your client success manager at Therapy Everywhere can get this done for you!

Step 3: Track the “Appointment Booked” Event

Jane automatically sends a specific event to Google Analytics when a booking is finished.
  • Event Name: appointment_booked
  • Page Location: The URL usually contains /appointments/confirmed or /appointments/success.
  • To see these in GA4, go to Reports > Engagement > Events.
  • Once the appointment_booked event appears, you can toggle it as a Key Event (formerly called a Conversion).

Our reporting team at Therapy Everywhere will work to include bookings from the Jane App in your reporting.

Advanced Tracking

In some cases, we may be able to track which of your services (e.g., “Couples Therapy” vs. “Therapy for Anxiety” or “Parenting Group”) are being booked.

You can see this information in the Jane App, but Google Analytics can show where those bookings came from. For example, you can see if “Couples Therapy” bookings are coming from Organic Results, while “Parenting Group” is coming from Instagram.

Here is the step-by-step guide to setting this up.

Step 1: Verify the Event in GA4

Before you can track specific services, Jane must fire the success event.

  1. Go to your GA4 Property.
  2. Navigate to Reports > Engagement > Events.
  3. Look for an event called appointment_booked.

Note: If you just set up the integration, it may take 24 hours to appear.

Step 2: Create a Custom Dimension

Jane sends the treatment name as a “parameter” with the booking event. However, GA4 hides these parameters unless you manually register them.

  1. In GA4, go to Admin (the gear icon).
  2. Click on Custom definitions (under Data Display).
  3. Click the blue Create custom dimensions button.
  4. Fill in the fields exactly as follows:
    • Dimension name: Treatment Name (This is what you’ll see in reports).
    • Scope: Event.
    • Description: The specific service booked in Jane.
    • Event parameter: item_name or treatment_name.

Troubleshoting Tip: Jane usually passes the service name under item_name. If you don’t see data after a few days, try creating a second dimension for page_title. The page title often contains the treatment name on the confirmation screen.

Step 3: View the Breakdown by Types of Service

Once the dimension is created, wait 24–48 hours for data to populate. You can then view your most popular booked services:

  1. Go to Explore in the left sidebar.
  2. Create a Blank Exploration.
  3. Under Dimensions, click the + and search for your new “Treatment Name” dimension.
  4. Under Metrics, click the + and add “Event count“.
  5. Drag “Treatment Name” into the Rows section and “Event count” into the Values section.
  6. Add a Filter where Event name exactly matches appointment_booked.
  7. Give the exploration a meaningful name so that you can easily review in the future.
